60% Carignan, 40% Mourvedre
Laurent Clapier is one of few growers showing that biodynamic practices can be applied on a larger scale - he has 52 hectares planted with indigenous varieties planted on a mix of clay, limestone and galets roule´s, providing characteristic Southern Rhone warmth. Elevage in underground limestone caves help give character and typicity across Laurent’s cuvees, with whites and reds sharing a distinct herbaceousness.
Gemeaux (Gemini) is a nod to biodynamics, the first vintage coinciding with their Demeter certification. A robust yet refreshing wine, with crunchy red fruit from the Carignan and rustic aromatics from the Mourvedre. After nearly 3 weeks of maceration, the wine undergoes an élevage of 12 months in stainless steel. The long maceration and 80 year old vine Carignan gives the wine great concentration and length. A little bit of VA enhances fruit and gives character on nose.
