Riesling

Many domains in Alsace have been owned by the same family for a long time. But very few have been farmed continuously since 1640. Matthieu and Marie are the 11th generation to oversee Domaine Leon Boesch. The vineyards are protected from chilly, wet winds by the “Petit Ballon” and “Grand Ballon” mountains which form part of the Vosges range. This means the climate is almost Mediterranean with a long, sunny growing season. In this area almond trees, cicadas and green lizards thrive.

Les Grandes Lignes is made from grapes grown on 25-year old vines that are farmed biodynamically. The grapes are pressed slowly and fermented on indigenous yeast resulting in a more complex, textured wine. An excellent example of a dry Alsatian Riesling!

Tasting notes : Grapefruit, lime, saline. Signature fresh acidity of Riesling but with added texture and depth.

Food pairing : A versatile wine that works just as well with bitter Picholine olives or salty almonds as it does with rich seafood dishes.
