Viura and Others

This is probably one of the most successful natural wines out there. Made by Gonzalo Grujalba, Gran Cerdo is a big “f--- you” to banks that didn’t want to loan him the money to set up a winery. Hailing from Fuenmayor in Rioja, Gonzalo turned his back on the region’s tradition of making oaky reds and full-bodied whites and instead focussed on making fresh, easy-to-drink styles of wine.

Gran Cerdo is mainly made from Viura with some other grapes thrown in like Gruner Veltliner and Macabeo. The grapes are farmed organically and the wine is unoaked which gives you a fresher, fruiter style. It's a long-standing customer favourite for those looking for an easy-to-drink, uncomplicated, fun wine.

Tasting notes : Green apple, Floral, Citrus. Best enjoyed young when it is at its most vibrant !
