100% Cataratto

While Sicily might be scorching, the hilltop perch of the Vesco family vineyards, located 150-300m above sea level, means you can grow grapes that make fresh, crisp white wine. Low rainfall and year-round sunshine also make organic viticulture more straightforward than in many parts of the world.

Cataratto is one of Sicily’s most popular grape varieties and is probably best known for making the fortified wine Marsala. The grapes are harvested at night to help retain their natural freshness. The wine receives a very short amount of skin contact to add extra depth and texture before being fermented in stainless steel. It is bottled unfiltered so may be a little cloudy, but this doesn’t affect the flavour one bit.

Tasting notes : Grapefruit, lemon, green apple. Light-bodied, fresh and crisp.
