100% Nerello Mascalese
Vigneti Vecchio is a family-run winery located at around 800m above sea level on the northern slopes of Mount Etna. Established in 2016 by Carmelo Vecchio and his wife Rosa La Guzza, the estate is deeply rooted in the region's winemaking tradition.
Carmelo and Rosa are committed to organic farming practices and minimal intervention winemaking. Their approach emphasizes respect for the land, tradition, and simplicity in vinification. This philosophy allows the unique characteristics of Etna's terroir to be expressed authentically in their wines.
From vines averaging 75 years old, the grapes for this Etna Rosso are hand-harvested and undergo fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Maceration on the skins lasts between 8 to 12 days, followed by maturation in glass resin and stainless steel containers.
Tasting notes: Aromatic notes of ripe red fruits, herbs, and subtle hints of spice. On the palate, it offers a harmonious blend of freshness and minerality, reflecting the volcanic terroir.
Food pairing: Enjoy alongside a bowl of Pasta alla Norma, or grilled lamb chops with Mediterranean veg!
