70% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, 10% Clairette Rose

Nicolas Renaud worked as a history teacher before his enthusiasm and curiosity drew him to full-time winemaking. He started out making wine at Vielle Julienne in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 2005, and during his time there began to recent his own vines in Rochefort, near Gard in the Southern Rhône. His current estate, Clos Des Grillons, was established in 2008. Nicolas is a neighbour and friend of Eric Pfifferling from L’Anglore, who has been a big inspiration to his approach in the cellar.

This cuvee Calcaires is a blend of two different Grenache parcels, separately vinified in concrete over a bed of Cinsault and Clairette rose, then blended and bottled in spring.

Tasting notes : A wonderfully light and elegant wine, with hints of wild strawberries and cherry blossom.

Food pairing : An aromatic and gentle wine like this can be happily drunk on its own but would also work well with Biryani or pilaf too !
