Vermentino, Roussanne

Situated between Nîmes and Arles, the Mas du Chêne vineyards cover some 40 hectares, 15 of which they work organically for Mas du Chêne. The rest of the fruit is sold to the local coop. The terroir is composed of galets roulés over stoney soils which offer good drainage and healthiness in the vineyard.

A blend of Vermentino and Roussanne, with fermentation and elevage in 3 - 5 year old Burgundian barrels. The resulting wine is rich and robust, with the barrel aging adding texture and roundness. The Vermentino brings some tension and acidity, offering a refreshing wine in a region where white can be flabby.

Tasting notes : Ripe pear, stone fruit, citrus, leesy richness.

Food pairing : Charcoal grilled sea bream with fennel and lemon.
