On 5th and 6thFebruary, we’ll be welcoming the incredibly talented Mary San Pablo from @lutolondon to the Hackney Road store to cook up a Filipino storm! Mary is the chef behind LUTO (Tagalog for “to cook”), currently a roaming pop-up working towards a bricks and mortar home dedicated to sharing the bold, soulful flavours of her Filipino heritage.
Previously of Quo Vadis, Som Saa and Quality Chop House, Mary brings over a decade of experience to the table, reimagining the dishes of the Philippines’ thousands of islands with seasonal British ingredients and a balance of nostalgia and innovation.
Her cooking celebrates the deep umami and versatility of Filipino cuisine, translating beloved classics through a modern lens — a vibrant, personal journey from Bicol to London and beyond.
There will be 2 sittings each night (19:00 and 21:00) with limited availability, so book in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The evening will run as a set menu (vegan option available) from the LUTO team, with a specially curated wine list from yours truly, focussing on the wines of Sextant: a perfect match for Mary’s bold and expressive flavours!
