100% Gamay

Clotaire is based in Saint-Etienne-la-Varenne, a commune in the Beaujolais Villages located between Blacé and Quincié. The domaine is comprised of 1.8ha of centenarian vines and a further 1.4ha of forty-to-eighty year old vines which are planted on sandy-granite soils. Clotaire’s wines are rich and expressive in style, with the lift and purity of Beaujolais fruit through semi-carbonic maceration.

À Fleur de Peau is made from older massal selection vines, with an average vine age of 100 years. This is a wine with great structure and depth, but the fresh Gamay juice is still very present. Decant for an hour or two.

Tasting notes : Deep savoury fruit, mineral, cassis, pencil shavings.

Food pairing : Enough tannin to stand up to something hearty, but with lots of elegance besides. Consider roast lamb or duck !
