100% Hondarrabi Zuri

Bodegas Ameztoi is a family-owned winery located in Getaria, a picturesque coastal town in the Basque Country of Spain. Established in 1820, it has been producing Txakoli for over five generations. The winery is situated on a hilltop surrounded by 51 hectares of terraced vineyards, offering breathtaking views of the Bay of Biscay, benefiting from the cooling sea breezes and sufficient sunlight.

For this wine the grapes are hand-harvested in September, when acidity and aromatic ripeness are balanced. The grapes are gently pressed and the juice undergoes fermentation with native yeasts at low temperatures in stainless steel to preserve the juice’s freshness. The resulting wine is then bottled with a small amount of dissolved Carbon Dioxide produced during the fermentation, giving the wine a beautiful effervescence.

Txakoli is deeply tied to local tradition, cuisine, and the identity of the Basque people and is enjoyed in every Pintxos bar in the region. The wine is often poured from a height to aerate it and enhance its natural effervescence.
