Adrien Berlioz farms 8ha of vines over 17 parcels in the AOP Chignin-Bergeron, Savoie. The Domaine has been certified organic since 2012 and biodynamic since 2020. Situated in the foothills of the Alps, the slopes are incredibly steep, the majority with a gradient of 50%. Adrien grows native varietals such as Mondeuse, Jacquère, Altesse and Roussanne, as well as some rarer varieties like Persan. All of the parcels are cultivated using the most natural means possible, with no herbicides, chemical fertilisers or other synthetic products in either the vineyards or the cellars. Adrien's style is fresh, elegant and easy going wines with a focus on mineral structure.
Hand-harvested organically farmed Jacquere and Altesse grapes from southwest-facing vineyard ‘Les Chateaux’ in Chignin. Old vines (50 years), densely planted on silty limestone soils, worked with horse-plough. Carefully sorted whole clusters, delicately pressed and fermented in the tank without additions. Natural malolactic fermentation, 4 months ageing in the tank.
Tasting Notes : Fresh grass, white flowers, ripe apples and almonds. On the palate, it is plump yet refreshing, with a chewy mineral crunch on the finish.
Food Pairing : Ideal as an accompaniment to Fondue, Tartiflette or Raclette !
