100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Sfera is short for ‘atmosphere’ in Italian, and they are on a mission to bring 'cosmic verve in a litre bottle from the Alps to the Mediterranean'. They work with a roster of certified-organic growers across Italy, making fun wines that are an Italian take on the easy-drinking 'vin de soif' of France. Each cuvée is produced on a limited basis and is made entirely from the grapes of a single grower to maintain a relationship between the terroir and wine.
Their latest rosato is made with grapes grown by Suole e Salute, based on the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. While Montepulciano is best known for producing red wine, it is a popular option for making deeply-coloured rosato wines. The wine is fermented and briefly aged in a mixture of stainless steel and concrete tanks to help retain the wine's fresh, fruity flavours.
Tasting notes : Raspberries, cherries, pomegranate. Fresh, lively, dry and best served well-chilled.
Food pairing : Serve this alongside fresh Goats' milk cheese and piles of salty Parma Ham. Ideally in the park.
