Spenwood is a hard sheep’s milk cheese that turns crumbly and slightly granular as the cheese ages. Inspired by Pecorino Sardo, Spenwood is milky with subtle nutty and savoury flavours rounded out by a delicate sweetness. As the cheese ages it develops a more robust piquancy.    

Spenwood is made by Village Maid Dairy in the village of Riseley, Berkshire. Anne Wigmore began making Spenwood in 1986 after visiting Sardinia on a sailing trip and falling in love with local sheep's milk cheeses. In 2017 Anne’s son Jake and his fiancée Kayleigh joined the business and now run it full time.
