100% Riesling 

Many domains in Alsace have been owned by the same family for a long time. But very few have been farmed continuously since 1640. Matthieu and Marie are the 11th generation to oversee Domaine Leon Boesch. The vineyards are protected from chilly, wet winds by the “Petit Ballon” and “Grand Ballon” mountains which form part of the Vosges range. This means the climate is almost Mediterranean with a long, sunny growing season. In this area almond trees, cicadas and green lizards thrive.

Breitenberg is their top Riesling made from 20-year old vines grown on the western end of the Vallée Noble. The vineyard is on a south-facing hillside that receives lots of sun but is cooled by fast winds, allowing the grapes to ripen while retaining lots of acidity.

Food pairing : A versatile wine that works just as well with bitter Picholine olives or salty almonds as it does with rich seafood dishes.
