Primitivo

Vines have been in the Del Prete family for generations, but Natalino was the first to focus exclusively on viticulture. Working with 10 hectares of vines, a tiny amount for the area, the indigenous Primitivo and Negroamaro account for most of his production. The viticulture is more about restraint than anything else: no fertilizers, minimal ploughing, no irrigation, or chemicals. This philosophy extends to the cellar, where the wines ferment and age in large concrete tanks. Few rackings occur, if any, and he doesn't use sulphur.  

The wine starts with manual harvest and sorting, after which fermentation takes place with natural yeasts. No added sulphites, no filtration, no fining.

Tasting Notes : Violets, black cherries, plums and liquorice on the nose, velvet on the palate. An enchanting Primitivo that is emblematic of the drinkability that has come to be associated with Natalino’s wine.
