100% Teroldego

The cool sub-Alpine valley of Trentino may not seem like a good place to make anything other than light, fruity red wines but Elisabetta Foradori proves that it can be done. She took over her family’s 26ha estate at the age of 19 and set about converting the vineyards to organic farming. More recently, in 2009, she received biodynamic certification.

Elisabetta is credited with bringing the endangered Teroldego variety back from the brink of extinction. She uses this grape to produce a surprisingly rich wine which is aged for fifteen months prior to release.

Tasting notes: Tasting notes: cherry, plum, mineral. Fresh acidity and with some moderate, grippy tannin.

Food pairing: Perfect to cut through the fattiness of rich alpine dishes like tartiflette or wet polenta with loads of butter and parmesan.
