The Compagnie Du Miel honey production project began with 2 friends and a vision to combine both business and social enterprise. 

Conscious of the huge ecological disaster: the deforestation in Madagascar, and the poverty in the region, they began producing honey, simultaneously retraining locals who had a mining or farming background and providing them with all of the equipment necessary for apiculture (beekeeping). 

Madagascar is very rich in terms of flora with a climate that provides a perfect environment to produce honey, in which there is a great opportunity to really play with diverse flavour profiles and textures. 

Niaouli is a variety of Myrtle tree ( Melaleuca quinquenervia), it is native to Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia. More commonly, it is known as the paper bark tree. This honey is dark-coloured with a deep and complex flavour. It is a honey to be savoured and contemplated alongside a salty blue cheese or a lactic goat's cheese.
