Catherine & Pierre Breton - Bourgueil La Dilettante 2017 - Loire, France


100% Cabernet Franc

The Loire has been an incubator for many pioneering natural winemakers. Catherine and Pierre Breton are two of those winemakers. Their 11ha farm is located in the village of Restigné, just outside Bourgueil in the Loire Valley. The vineyard was certified organic in 1991 and the couple are currently in the process of being certified as biodynamic.

“La Dilettante” is made from 100% Cabernet Franc that is fermented using carbonic maceration. This is the process where the grapes are placed, uncrushed in vat and blanked with CO2. This causes fermentation within the grapes, producing a wine that is perfumed, pale and juicy and perfect for drinking young!

Tasting notes: strawberry, raspberry, red cherries. Light, bright and full of fruit.

Food pairing: Selles sur Cher or St Maure goat’s cheese.
