100% Canaiuolo

Chianti isn’t exactly well known for making rosé but we think it should be. Located in the heights of the Chianti area, Elisabetta Fagiuoli runs Montenidoli, an estate that has been making organic wines since the 1960s. The estate sits high up on a mountain to the west of the nearest village, giving her wines exceptional freshness.

This wine is 100% Canaiuolo an indigenous Tuscan red wine grape that is typically a minor blending partner to Sangiovese in Chianti. The wine is made from free-run juice. This is the juice that comes out of the grapes after they’ve been crushed to split their skins but before they’ve been pressed. This juice produces the most delicate and lightly coloured styles of wine.

Tasting notes: Strawberry, raspberry, cranberry. Pale, dry and endlessly refreshing.

Food pairing: A great partner for antipasti and fresh pasta with clams, parsley and lemon.
